From an early age, Adam Esrick was consumed with the art of Storytelling. His inspiration was initially Tolkien and Comics and of course, the Capped Crusader’s literal
and figurative darkness and duality. He grew into becoming a voracious reader of literary scions like James Joyce’s, Dubliners and Steinbeck’s, Grapes of Wrath
(courtesy of Bruce Springsteen and freshman English). Born in 1993 a perfect example
of a millennial birthed by MTV generation parents; Adam was at first attracted to the
cinematic/visual side of the Arts before finding his journey through his guitar and notepad.
During Adam’s early teens and high school years, he had two important connections that continue to this day. In Nick Sero bassist and songwriter with literary aspirations Adam found a collaborator and bandmate formed his first band Dex’s Sister.
They both discovered the powerful connections formed when playing in a Rock and Roll band. With Billy Cioffi a grizzled veteran of Hollywood Rock and Roll a guitar playing
songwriter who’s had toured and worked with many legends Adam found a teacher, mentor and above all a friend for life who recognized Adam’s gifts and his artistic potential.
Billy brought Adam and Dex’s Sister to Olivier Zahm producer and recording engineer owner of Electric Lotus Music, Cioffi and Zahm produced the bands album. In
Cioffi’s words “an unreleased masterpiece foiled by the eventuality of high school graduation and other issues.” Adam was now a solo artist who was swimming in an ocean of “what now?”.
After a year or so of writing and working Esrick, Cioffi entered Electric Lotus Studios with Zahm and began tracking songs for an EP/CD. “Drive Blind” is a five song
EP culled from collaborations by Esrick and Cioffi. A number of tracks were left over for the follow up as we write the wheels are in motion for multiple releases coming soon.
The songs are edgy with an alternate country/rock edge that rises above many current formulaic offerings. Prominent in the songs are their cinematic imagery and sense of
place as exemplified by the song “Clair of Adair”
In the ensuing time between “Drive Blind” release Esrick performed songs from the
record on PBS award winning “Song Writers Showcase from the Tempe Center for the
Arts” to a standing ovation from a sold-out live crowd.
While currently working on new material, releasing monthly singles like "Breaks Apart" and "Tucson to I Don't Care" navigating through the waters of alternative country/rock, Adam spends a great deal of time honing his performance skills in live venues throughout Arizona and the Southwest from the Old Town Clubs to the Honky Tonks and the Winery and wine bars and festivals.
